October 24 Parents' Night Out (Spooky!)
Who:
Kids between the ages of 5-10
When:
October 24, 5-10PM
Where:
SPARK Studio, 1800 W Cornelia Ave, Studio 205A
What (Overview):
We'll do a Halloween-themed craft project, have some pizza, and watch a movie (weather dependent, we might be able to do this with the projector in the back courtyard!). It's going to be a great time! You can drop your kids off anytime after 5pm and pick them up anytime before 10pm.
What (Should We Bring):
Make sure your kid arrives wearing clothes they can get a little messy! We’ll have smocks, but we also never underestimate any child’s ability to get paint on their clothes!
If your kid usually has one, a refillable water bottle
any comfort items your kid might want to have during movie time
(optional, if they want!) pajamas for them to change into for the second half of the night
What (Should We Not Bring):
Please don’t send your kid with any extra snacks or candy unless absolutely needed for medical reasons (like Type I Diabetes / hypogyclemia). We’ll have plenty of options for them and would like to avoid the conflict that sometimes erupts over some kids having a snack that other kids want. If your kid has medical needs, food allergies or is just a picky eater, let me know in the enrollment form so that I can make sure we have an accommodation prepared for them!
Detailed Agenda:
5-6pm: We’re going to start off with some freestyle arts and crafts while everyone arrives, settles in, and gets to know each other.
6pm-7pm: Pizza arrives at 6pm, and we’ll chow down while also getting started on a fun Halloween-themed craft project. Weather dependent, we might decorate pumpkins (with paint, not sharp instruments). If it’s more of an indoors night, we might make trick-or-treat baskets/bags or handmade masks!
7pm-9pm: From here, it’s movie time. If you sent pajamas with your kids, they’ll get changed in the private bathrooms across the hall. Then, depending on the weather, we’ll either head out to the back courtyard and spread out some blankets to watch our movie on the projector or we’ll set up our in-studio pillow and canvas dropcloth fort to watch it inside.
Movie Choices: I’ll send a poll out to registered parents a couple weeks before, but depending on the ages of the kids who sign up, options could include: Hocus Pocus, Halloweentown, Scooby Doo the Movie, ParaNorman, Casper, Orion and the Dark, Nightbooks, or others! And if you have any suggestions, feel free to send an email and let me know.
